【大纪元8月21日讯】高智晟律师遭到中国政府的拘捕，引起全球关注。澳大利亚民主中国阵线将在8月22日上午11点起在中共驻悉尼领事馆前举行抗议活动，声援身陷囹圄的高智晟律师和其他在中国专制体制下进行艰苦抗争的维权人士。与此同时，澳洲民阵已经去函澳洲国会和政府，要求澳洲社会对中国政府的新一轮打压维权人士进行关注和表示抗议。

北京维权律师高智晟星期二在山东姐姐家被警察突然抓捕已两天，目前关押地点不明，与此同时，高智晟在北京的两个侄子也被带往派出所，他的妻子耿和也无法联络到。有评论认为，当局此次行动也许只为山东盲人维权活动家陈光城18号的开审而暂时限制高智晟的自由，也可能是全国性的逮捕行动的前奏。
澳大利亚民主中国阵线希望澳州政府就中国政府任意拘捕维权人士行径提出交涉和抗议，要求中国政府立即无条件地释放高智晟律师。

Re: Detention of Mr Gao Zhisheng, Chinese civil rights attorney
I am writing to bring to your attention the recent crackdown on the Chinese civil rights activists on the part of the Chinese Government.
Mr Gao Zhisheng, Beijing based civil rights attorney, was reportedly detained on 15th August 2006 by police at the time of visiting his elder sister in Shan Dong Province. So far the whereabouts of his detention are still unknown. Mr Gao”s two nephews were taken to the police station in Beijing as well and Gao”s wife is not contactable. The detention of Mr Gao Zhisheng has not only deprived him of his freedom, but it is speculated that the intention is to prevent him from providing legal assistance to the court hearing on 18th August of civil rights activist Chen Guangcheng, or is perhaps a prelude to a nation wide detention of civil rights activists.
FDC Australia implores the Australian Government to register its concern and to protest to the Chinese Government for this arbitrary arrest, and request the immediate and unconditional release of Mr Gao Zhisheng.
