【大紀元7月22日訊】(大紀元記者南希華盛頓DC報導) 2007年7月20日上午10：00， 來自世界各地的兩千多位民眾聚集在美國首都的華盛頓紀念碑北廣場，聲援二千四百萬中國民眾退出中共。來自紐約、波士頓的幾十位華人在集會現場宣誓退出中共， 另有二十幾位大陸民眾通過現場直播集會的希望之聲國際廣播電台宣佈退出中共。集會後進行了聲援中國民眾退出中共遊行。

親愛的聶博士﹐
謝謝你邀請我參加大紀元時報這個禮拜所舉行的停止中共迫害法輪功以及持續人權暴行的高峰研討會和公眾集會。
雖然我很抱歉不能參加這個重要的活動﹐但是﹐我想對這次集會以及對此重要議題舉辦國際性活動的必要性表達我誠摯的支持。中共在缺乏基本人權保護和新聞媒體自由下﹐持續對精神與宗教團體的壓制﹐根本令人無法接受。從2005年3月的“宗教事務法規” 到2005 年4月更新的無理鎮壓法輪功精神運動﹐中共犯下的所有罪行都嚴重的違反了國際人權法和國際慣例法﹐美國或者國際社會不應該漠視。
這裡﹐我特別敦促國際社會採取行動反對中共對沒有註冊的基督教團體﹐法輪功﹐以及其他非官方的精神與宗教團體成員持續任意的關押﹐酷刑和虐待。任何文明的社會都承諾每一個人都有選舉他或她的政府官員的自由﹐選擇他或她的宗教信仰﹐以及享有沒有政府控制新聞媒體的自由。就像我持續做為第7任的國會議員一樣﹐我會繼續堅持為那些在中共統治下一直被無理壓制的人們尋求平等和公正。

Dear Dr. Nieh,
Thank you for your kind invitation to support the summit forum and public rally held by the Epoch Times this week to end the campaign of persecution of Falun Gong as well as the ongoing human rights atrocities committed by the People’s Republic of China (PRC).
I apologize for not being able to attend this important event; however, in my absence I want to express my sincere support of this rally and the need for international action on this vital issue. The ongoing repression of spiritual and religious groups, along with the lack of fundamental human rights protections and freedom of the press in the PRC is simply at unacceptable levels. Ranging from the March 2005 “Regulation on Religious Affairs” to the unjustified crackdown of the Falun Gong spiritual movement that was renewed in April 2005, all such actions committed by the PRC are serious violations of international human rights law and customary international law, which should not be taken idly by the United States or the international community.
I especially urge the international community to take action against the continued arbitrary detention, torture and ill-treatment of unregistered Christian groups, the Falun Gong and other Members of unofficial spiritual and religious groups in the PRC. The premise of any civilized society is the freedom of each individual to elect his or her government officials, choose what religion he or she may practice and enjoy the liberty of the press without unwarranted government control. As I continue in my 7th term as a Member of Congress, I will remain persistent in seeking equality and justice for those individuals in the PRC who continue to be unjustifiably oppressed.
