【大纪元7月24日讯】(大纪元记者赵海德编译报导、嘉能教育Paul Zhang部分供稿)为了给在学业上具有天分的学生提供良好学习环境，激发他们的求知欲望，澳洲纽省教育厅决定面向省内小学5年级和6年级生设立育才班（Opportunity Classes），筒称O.C班。
各校可根据自身结构、师资等的不同，分别选择以下几种班型：
(1)、5年级生育才班；
(2)、6年级生育才班；
(3)、5，6双年级生混合育才班；
(4)、育才班生与非育才班生混合班。
学生入班标准：
学生想进入育才班，须先参加育才班的定班达标考试，根据此成绩，以及学校对该生日常的考评、学业特长等做出综合测评，最后决定是否符合入班资格。
英才班定班达标考试时间：
2009年上5年级英才班08年定班达标考试已定在2008年7月30日举行， 请要考的学生准备好。
纽省目前共有71所小学设有O.C英才班，招收有潜质的学生（gifted student）入读5年级。家长都希望自己的孩子有更好的机会。下列标准可供大家参考，来给自己孩子打打分。
有潜质的学生（ A gifted student ）一般具有以下特质:
1、学东西快，领悟快 (learns rapidly and quickly grasps new concepts)
2、超强记忆力 (has an excellent memory)
3、有创新意识 (is creative or imaginative, e.g. Produces many ideas or is highly original)
4、有特别技能 (has special talents, e.g. Technology, the arts, science)
5、独立，喜欢单独完成工作 (is independent – may prefer to work alone)
6、有幽默感 (has a keen sense of humors)
7、具主动性(is highly motivated, particularly in self-selected tasks)
8、有特别兴趣，爱好 (has unusual or advanced interests)
9、有判断思考，解决问题的能力 (demonstrates exceptional critical thinking skills or problem-solving ability)
10、具领导能力 (has superior leadership and interpersonal skills)
11、经常发问探索性问题 (frequently asks in-depth, probing questions)
12、显示责任感 (may demonstrate a high degree of social responsibility or moral reasoning)
13、掌握丰富词汇 (possesses a large, advanced vocabulary)
14、具洞察，推理能力 (has superior insight and the ability to draw inferences or is intuitive)
15、喜欢阅读 (is an advanced reader either in English or in the home language)
